Baker Institute, Melbourne

Part of a large hospital complex this research institute comprises a nest of 3 multi-storey buildings.

The complex was formerly a Johnson Metasys system comprising a mixture of outdated N2 devices and unsupported Johnson LON devices.

We deployed multiple JACEs as LON interfaces and simply 'discovered' and integrated several hundred legacy VAV controllers. Now that Tridium is managing the LON network it is a very simply matter to deploy any other brand of LON vav if necessary.

The Johnson N2 controllers that were spread throughout the complex were migrated to the field JACEs to reduce the site complexity. Each building in the complex is now self-contained and doesnt have to rely on data from another NCM controller in another building. Tridium comfortably runs multiple protocols in any JACE so there are also modbus interfaces to metering and Bacnet to a Trane BCU that delivers data from chillers.

Because the project included mapping 5000 points we wrote special provisioning code inside Tridium Program objects that opens the old Metasys DDL files and parses them to 're-create' the controller and points database in a Tridium station.

In less that 30 seconds at the press of a button we can import an entire NCM including controller addresses, point names, point addresses, and default setpoints. We are now also working on a Siemens Apogee version as well.

179 Queen St, Melbourne

11 storey office block that has gone 'green'. A new 200kW micro turbine gas generator by Capstone meets part of the building electricity need during the day and at night, feeds power back into the supply grid. Excess heat from the flue gas is delivered to either a Thermax absorption chiller or into the HHW system.

Tridum integrates prexisting Alerton MSTP which now act as dumb IO, power metering, VSDs via modbus RTU, the generator via modbus TCP and 2 PowerPax chillers via BacnetIP

460 Collins St, Melbourne

An 8 storey office block that needed a new chiller and the old pnuematics removed.
A new Tridium JACE integrates a PowerPax chuiller via BacnetIP and 99 existing VAVs were retrofitted with new EasyIO bacnet MSTP VAV controllers and 16 AHUs were controlled with EasyIO-30P Sedona controllers.
The building is now web enabled and can be monitored controlled and programmed via the Web.

678 Victoria St, Abbotsford

A multi-storey office block comprising Honeywell Excel5000 controllers with XL10 VAVs throughout the floors. This building has been retrofitted with several JACE controllers and AX SUpervisor software. Several Honeywell XL5k field panels were completely replaced with EasyIO Sedona controllers which were prefabricated in the workshop and 'dropped in' in a single weekend. The exisitng LON Excel 10 VAV controllers were integrated using drop-in JACE Lon cards and the Tridium Lonworks driver.

DFO Essendon

29 large packaged AC units are controlled by Johnson FX-05 controllers that were originally managed by a Johnson NAE and Metasys ADS. We replaced the NAE with a Tridium JACE which now manages the field controllers for AC and lighting. The JACE serves graphics for the site.

6 outlying switchboards for carpark and external lighting are integrated into the Tridium system via Bacnet by extending a Can2go zigbee wireless network accross the carpark. 7 wireles mesh controllers carry local schedules and IO points to control the lighting systems where formerly staff had to manually reprogram dozens of timeclocks each daylight savings change.

Can2go was the perfect solution. No wires, embedded timeclocks, BacnetIP and completely 'open'.

Australia Post Data Centre - West Melbourne

A critical purpose built, critical data centre originally controller with a TAC Inet system. We installed a Tridium AX system to integrate the legacy DDC system with new chillers, UPS and battery monitors. Under an AX Supervisor front-end, several Tridium JACE controllers sequence 3 Powerpax chillers and integrate 4 Modbus UPS and battery monitoring systems. The TAC system is integrated into AX via the iSoft driver from Infocon

Australia Post Data Centre - Collins St

Connected via WAN to the West Melbourne site the JACE here monitors Water Under Floor and critical alarms. A new Stulz 'wet-back' cooling system is also integrated via modbus.

MYOB office - Burwood

Multistorey office block that was formerly controlled via Barber Colman GCM with ASD field controllers. A Tridium AX JACE was installed with an Infocon ASD driver to hanld communications to the pre-existing VAVs and MZII controllers. With the GCM removed the new JACE provides all control, scheduling, graphics and off-site monitoring for the building.

ANZCA office, St Kilda Rd

This 10 storey office block was retro fitted with a JACE that provides all control, scheduling, graphics and off-site monitoring for the building.

ASIC Traralgon

A multistorey office block that was originally installed with Siemens TEC controllers on the VAVs and System600 field IO panels. By installing Tridium JACE controllers and the Infocon Siemens driver we have been able to retain around 100 legacy VAV controllers which now operate perfectly under Tridium. For the main plant IO located in 2 main plant rooms we employed Tridium NDIO devices. AX Supervisor handles graphics and scheduling. Because this site is 200km from the office the supervisor acts as the internet gateway for remote control, programming, and alarm delivery. The 'tunnelling' feature of Tridium allows for complete remote access from the internet. We can perform software programming and updates, graphic tweaks, and backups remotely.

CoInvest 478 Albert St, East Melbourne

A 6 floor office block built on Siemens MBC controller with TEC controllers on VAVs. Tridium JACE controllers with NDIO replaced the MBC, HRW Bacnet VAV controllers replaced the TECs. A new Quantum chiller was integrated via Bacnet Ethernet and the site was brought together under a Tridium AX Supervisor. The supervisor handles graphics and scheduling. It acts as the internet gateway for remote control, programming, and alarm delivery. The 'tunnelling' feature of Tridium allows for complete remote access from the internet. We can perform software priogramming and updates, graphic tweaks, and backups remotely.

Melton Police

Regional Police complex. A lightning strike took out on of the Johnson DX controllers. Tridium was the great solution, for the same relative cost we could install a Johnson FX-20 (Tridium JACE2) with NDIO and integrate the remaining DX controllers and and XT modules via the N2 bus.

A site that formerly had no graphics and no way of being programmed or interrogated, now has graphics, and can be programmied by a standard Web Browser.

Doncaster Police

Suburban Police complex that was a very old analog control system with many failed parts. Tridium was the simple solution and we installed a Johnson FX-20 (Tridium JACE2) with NDIO. The site now has a simple graphics via web browser.
